17th Annual New Mexico Ag Expo Chair – Second Time Around
Portales, NM — Dr. Terry Ervin has been chosen to serve a second term as the Ag Expo Chairman. He first served as chair of the 2008 Ag Expo and led a great show, last February. Ervin has served under other leaders on the Ag Expo Board since 2003, when he first came to Roosevelt County.
Ervin also serves the agricultural community in the class room as a Professor at ENMU and Chair of the Department of Family & Consumer Sciences and Agriculture. Dr. Ervin earned degrees in Systems Ecology and Biology from the University of California at Riverside, and the doctorate in Agricultural Economics from Oklahoma State University.
Prior to coming to this area, Dr. Ervin was a Professor at Texas Tech University in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics. While at Tech, he and his family lived at one of their ranch/farms in Garza County, running registered Santa Gertrudis cattle and Quarter Horses, and leasing some of their land for cotton production. They lived there since 1990. Currently, Ervin and his wife, Debora live on a small place in the Rogers community with their horses and dogs.
