New Mexico Ag Expo Valuable to Local Ag Industry Portales, NM —For the 18th consecutive year, the New Mexico Agricultural Expo will reach thousands of dairymen, ranchers, and farmers, showcasing the latest technological and industrial advances. The Expo, which will be held February 23 & 24, brings in the latest expertise and equipment, helping those in attendance to utilize the services in their own operations. This year’s Expo is being sponsored by Plateau Wireless and Dairy Farmers of America. Seminars will include various topics of concern ranging from wind to dogs. Rory McMinn & Robert Lumpkin will give an update on the current status of wind energy, especially, the progress of transmission lines. Scott Bagley from Dimmitt, TX, will conduct the horse training demonstration utilizing his philosophy of building a sound fundamental ranch horse that can be taken to the show ring. Other demonstrations and seminars include: dog training with Kyle Dillard; cooking school with Connie Moyers; small vertebrate control with Dr. Sam Smallidge; forage production with Dr. Mark Marsalis; and alfalfa management with Dr. Leonard Lauriault. More than 175 booths with 500 exhibitors are expected to attend this year’s show. Many new vendors are registered to attend, coming from 15 states and 2 countries. In years past, exhibitors have made the comment that they sell more at the New Mexico Ag Expo per number of attendees than any other show in which they participate. Expo attendees will have the opportunity to win a brand new 14’ stock trailer. Registration for the drawing will be available at the show and the winner must be at least 18 years old.
